It’s on!

Posted: April 30, 2009 in NBA, playoffs
Man oh man! Rajon Rondo better be strapped next time he hits the city of Wind. He just Irish whipped Capt Kirk into the scorer’s table, setting off a near melee.

Surprisingly, he only got whistled with a flagrant 1. Hinrich received a T for his efforts.

Stank-0 you may have been wrong about that bad blood comment.

There isn’t a better series jumpin off in playoff sports right now, including the Bulls-Celtics, multi-overtime games. That is a great series but there’s no bad blood between these teams, Rando’s head swipe notwithstanding.

I dunno Stank-0, but all it will take is one small provocation for it to be on and poppin. It was waiting to pop off, there have been pushes, shoves, etc all series. This feels a lil bit like the great Heat-Knicks battles of the 90s. Just a lil though.

As a result, they have been callin this game extremely tight. This is a good game and it’s only the 1st Q.

How trill has this game been? Three OTs! Joakim Noah bangin in Pierce’s mug. Eddie House just came in and splashed a J to bring the Celtics within one.

Um, that pick was a MOVING screen! Refs need to get on they job! I’m goin live now.

Bulls inbound and Miller is fouled by Glen Big Baby Davis. Davis is gone. Miller to the line.

Hit the first one…second one….good!

Davis gonna cry now. MAN UP!

Time out, Boston! 128-125 Chicago!

Commercial for Next Day Air. Meh. Typical urban/hood movie. Actors gotta eat too!

Back to the game.

Rondo scores. One point game. Time out.

Commercial about nothing.

Games back on.

Bulls inbounding. Hinrich missed the gimme. That hurt. Celtics last time out. I dunno if that wasn’t a bit of goaltending. He touched the cylinder. Kirk, use your left bruh!

Celtics inbounding. In to Rondo, immediate foul. Again to Rondo. Tossed by Rose. Breakaway and the foul. Foul on Scalabrine.

Rose at the line. Missed the 1st. Pressure!

Missed the second. Rondo from deep…missed! Ball game! Chicago wins 128-127. WOW!

The Washington Capitals advance to face the Pittsburgh Penguins.  Now they faced off early in the season, and there was some bad blood between Sid and AO.  Here’s the particulars in case ya’ll forgot.

After a little push-and-shove, Sidney Crosby was still running his mouth, even as his helmet came off and a linesman tried to push him back toward the bench.

Alex Ovechkin responded with a dismissive, “bye-bye” wave of the left hand, practically taunting the Pittsburgh Penguins star.

This is gonna be great.  There is no way that some talkin and fisticuffs do NOT pop off.  They clearly DISLIKE/HATE each other, and its filtered down to their respective teams.

There isn’t a better series jumpin off in playoff sports right now, including the Bulls-Celtics, multi-overtime games.  That is a great series but there’s no bad blood between these teams, Rando’s head swipe notwithstanding.

This series is goin to at least 6 games.  Stank-0 picks the Capitals to advance.  AO for MVP!  Son has been scoring like a HS QB on prom night.  That would be back to back!

Thank You Denver…. Good night

Posted: April 30, 2009 in NBA, playoffs

I am so happy that Denver did what everyone thought they could after the shellacking put down on the NO Buzz earlier this weekend. They WON THE SERIES…..

I was so tired of hearing every year, Melo can’t get to the second round. Melo doesn’t have the killer instinct. Melo this, Melo that.

Does anyone realize that a basketball team is more than one man????

I sorta dont understand the logic. Bron Bron was able to get to later playoff rounds in a weaker Eastern conference with help. The Cavs played and embarassed the Wiz for 2 straight years and on top of that the Wizards were always hurt. People forget about that. Melo without much consistent help kept getting to the playoffs in a much more arduous Western Conference and happened to lose in the first round.

I am ecstatic. They talk about Man crushes, Melo is by far not my Man Crush, but he is from Baltimore (Check), Played at Syracuse (Check, Check, Syracuse is one of my all time fave schools, and orange is my favorite color), and he is a Jordan Brand athlete (Check, Check, Check). So while he fits three different criterion for the Man Crush, I am just fond of the player that he is becoming. I will expand later on his consistent Olympic snubbing, but that is for later.

Congrats Nuggets, Get prepared to put it on the Mavs ( I cant stand the MAVS AT ALL!!!!!!!!) Granted I have much respect for Mark Cuban’s Gangster (verb not noun) I still dont like the Mavs. Dirk and Terry and Howard, all good guys, But really Mavs <<<<<>>>>> KID SID!!!!!

Dear Brad Miller,

There is a saying that pressure makes diamonds, …but it busts pipes. Consider yourself busted. How can you go to the line and just miss both free throws? Did you Pete Rose this game? Huh, did ya?

A chance to go up 3 games to 2 and you let it slip through your fingers. Not your team, but you. Even BG played on a bad hammy. Sure you were bleeding but not from your eyes. So that should NOT affect your ability to see should it?

As a result, we have put you at the top of the list for a heart transplant. All we need from you is your blood type and a suitable match will be found.

Yours truly,
Dr. Werdsworth

QB poor

Stank-0 wonders how Campbell is dealing with Chase Daniel signing as a free agent?  Now the Skins have 4 QBs.

Daniel will be added to a Redskins roster that includes starter Jason Campbell, veteran Todd Collins and second-year player Colt Brennan out of Hawaii.

Will Daniel really be able to compete?  The only QB suspectible to Daniel takin his spot is Colt Brennan.  The last time he showed and proved was…during the Hall of Fame game.  Collins played when Campbell went down last season, and he played quite well.

Here’s hopin for Daniel, but not really.  He’s a Tiger.

Game 7

Posted: April 27, 2009 in Game 7, NHL, playoffs

The Washington Capitals were DOA after goin down 3-1, or so we thought. This isn’t anything new because they were in this exact same position last year.

Maybe they like adversity, but Werds thought AO was planning his vacation because the Rangers were gonna send him home.

If only I could be in the Verizon Center for Game 7. You know it will be loud and red in there.

Anyone know when that game is coming on? I’m watchin that one.

On the come up!

The Chicago Bulls have pulled even with the Boston Celtics at 2 tight. B.G.’s nickname should be 4Q since that’s when he’s ballin the most.

I honestly thought this series was over after the blowout at the 1st Bulls’ home game. Obviously, this is going to 7 games, but I’m not so sure that the Bulls can’t win this. The Celtics can’t stop any Bull from explodin on them. Rose and then Gordon two times.

I wonder if KG would really be that big of a difference? Maybe in Rose’s case but BG’s J has been wet like a rainstorm. KG on the inside doesn’t change that fact. Jesus Shuttlesworth can chase BG off the trey but the BG can drive in for the intermediate J. KG in the game doesn’t change that at all.

This is officially the series of the playoffs. Go get em!

Vacation time!

The Cavs finally swept the Pistons.  It was not unexpected.  Let’s deal with the aftermath because the usual stories will be how great LBJ was, how well the Cavs played as a team, how poorly the Pistons’ regulars played, blah, blah, blah.

The two biggest contracts on the Pistons books are AI and Sheed.  It’s a safe bet that AI is goin somewhere else.  Where that will be is anyone’s guess.  Sheed may or may not come back depending on if he is willing to restructure his deal.  In Stank-0’s opinion, Sheed won’t have a problem finding a place to play.  Teams would love a declining, multi-positional big who can splash treys around in big game situations.  If for nothing else the information he can impart to the youngbloods onthe team.

As for the Pistons, they have enough pieces to be competitive in 3-4 years.  Their youngins need to get some experience under their belts.  They will not be in contention for a very long time, though.  This also does not help their cause in 2010 in grabbing a big time free agent.  Who wants to play for an underwhelming team?  Exactly.  It’s like the Knicks without the lure of NYC, you got nothing.

As for the playoffs, the Cavs will advance to at least the East Conference Finals.  They are 3-1 in the season series against both the Atlanta Hawks and Miami Heat.  King me, checkers!

So the Detroit Lions selected Stafford as expected.  Stank-0 will be on live for the first 10 picks or at least until the Chiefs pick.

The NFL draft hats are horrible.  The Rams have 7 minutes and counting to make their selection.  Now the analysts are circle jerkin how great Stafford will be.  Picture time for Stafford, his lady, the fam, and the Lions brass.

The Rams now have a 2 minute warning.  Do they take another linemen?  The analysts are saying take best versus need.  Stank-0 disagrees.

We are comin under 1 minute.  Thirty seconds.

The Rams’ time is now up.  Their selectionis forthcoming.  Here we go…the Rams have selected Jason Smith, OT from Baylor.  Stank-0 approves this pick.  Bolster your line and your team will prosper.  Picture time with the fam.

The Chiefs now have 7 mins.  Stank-0 thinks they should take a defensive player.  The question is who to take?  Orakpo, Curry, or Jackson?

Three minutes and counting.  The analysts are thinkin the Chiefs are drafting for D.  The pick is in…the Chiefs have selected…Tyson Jackson DE/LSU.  He reteams with Glenn Dorsey.  He will be workable DE and help bolster the 3-4 scheme.  With that Stank-0 has stopped caring have a good day.

UPDATE!  Had to jump in here.  Contrary to the “experts” the C-Hawks grabbed Aaron Curry, OLB/ Wake Forest.  How far does Sanchez fall?  The next pick the Browns do not have a QB problem either.

The Browns now have under 5 minutes left.  The analysts are slobbin on Sanchez.  How did he learn where the bodies are buried?  He was sinkin like a stone and then the only name we heard was Sanchez like he was the 2nd coming of Johnny U.  Stank-0 would pass on a guy with only 16 starts in college himself.  Is Sanchez this years’ Brady Quinn?

A Lakers-Jazz commerical.  Should have showed Booz bangin on Pasol

The Jets have made a deal to move up for the Browns pick.  It looks like they will grab Sanchez here.  Wonder what was the compensation?  The analysts are fallin over themselves to shine up Sanchez’ nob.  Stank-0 can’t co-sign this Sanchez sensationalism.

Sanchez put on the Jets cap about 2 mins before the decision came from Goodell.  It’s official the Jets take Sanchez.

Sanchez=Brees?  Steve Young STFU, please!  Stank-0 liked this draft better when it was on mute.

The Bengals have less than 6 minutes.  Stank-0 thinks they will take up the entire time talkin about Sanchez’s future Hall of Fame career.

The Browns get DE Abram Elam, QB Brett Ratliff, DE Kenyon Coleman, 2009 2nd round pick and 2009 1st round pick (17th overall).  Stank-0 is convinced that the Browns got the better end of this deal.  Those players can be dealt and the picks can be dealt.  That deal could reverberate for the Browns into 2010 and 2011 or even later.

The Bengals have selected…Andre Smith OT/Alabama.  That’s a good pick.  That line folded like a wrinkled suit.  Carson Palmer should be very happy about this pick.  The “experts” are pickin apart this pick.  The Bengals needed to fix the line.  This could keep Ocho Cinco in town, although he will get double teamed now.  Housh wears C-Hawks green.

The Raiders at #7 are on the clock now.  Al Davis is infatuated with speed so Maclin?  They need help everywhere.  Under 4 minutes for Oakland.  The pick is in.  The Raiders have taken…Darius Heyward-Bey WR, Maryland.  HUGE SURPRISE!  Hey-Bey over Crab?  Stank-0 is shocked.  Man, he was graded as an F by Kiper and McShay.  Al Davis likes his skill players because he keeps drafting them.  They are skewering Hey-Bey mercilessly.  McShay:  “Bust.”

Jacksonville is on the clock under 6 minutes as the #8 pick.  The analysts think that Crab’s gonna move off very soon.  Michael Smith predicts Eugene Monroe OT from VA.  The Jags are comin under 1 minute.  The pick is in…the Jags have taken…Eugene Monroe OT, UVA.  Smart pick.  This is a OT heavy first 10 picks.  Maybe teams are realizing the value of linemen.  SPS is on his game

The Packers are on the clock now with the #9 pick.  They are under 7 minutes.  B.J. Raji DT/BC was shown on the cell.  Maybe?  It looks like the Packers have selected B.J. Raji DT/BC.  He will be integral for the Pack’s 3-4 defense.  The Packers have taken… B.J. Raji DT/BC.  It’s official.

The 49ers are on the clock with the #10 pick.  Crab may move here.  Under 7 minutes.  The debate for the 9ers is Orakpo or Crab?  Crab is on the phone so…maybe Crab?  The pick is in the 9ers have taken…Michael Crabtree WR/ Texas Tech.  Will he fit in with Coach Singletary?  With that my day is done.  Enjoy yourselves.

Stank-0 is goin to call this now.  There is no way that the Lions will get an adequate return on investment for what they are payin Stafford.  His deal is 6 yrs @ $78M with $41.7M guaranteed.  Brady and Manning aren’t gettin this type of guaranteed money, and they have rings.

Stank-0 just don’t see it.  How will Stafford be in a place to excel?  The Lions have one player of note, Calvin Johnson.  A toilet paper O/D line because they ain’t sh*t.  SPS said it best, get some line help.  Oh well, Stank-0 hopes all that money will make things better for you in Detroit.
